Inclusive by Design: From Sensory Fashion to Smarter Futures

💌 From Rut’s Studio

Hello dear creators,

Inclusion isn’t just a value—it’s a lens. And it’s changing how we design everything, from the fabrics we touch to the packaging we use.
This month, I’ve seen bold shifts that challenge how fashion engages the senses—and what “luxury” even means.
Let’s explore the materials, moments and movements shaping the future of accessible design.

💡 Notice this

Luxury re-imagined: sensory-inclusive fashion for the visually impaired

On 27 October, Jasmyn Lopuszansky launched her debut collection “Journey Behind the Eyes.”
Rooted in her connection to the blind and visually impaired community, this luxury line offers more than aesthetics—it invites tactile exploration, sensory storytelling, and emotional connection.

🔍 Why it matters:
– Shifts adaptive fashion into high-end territory
– Embeds accessibility into the essence of design
– A real case for brands ready to rethink “exclusive” and make it “inclusive”

💭 What would your collection look like if visual cues weren’t the focus—but texture and feeling were?

🧠 Curious About…

What if packaging was part of the product experience?

Textile brands are beginning to rethink not just the garment, but the full journey—from opening the package to reading the care label.
🧵 Braille hangtags.
📦 Tactile textures on boxes.
♻️ Fully compostable packaging that’s easy to open for people with limited dexterity.

Are you designing experiences—or just products?

🧵 Innovation Corner

BIOTEXFUTURE’s Bio‑Based Textile Innovation

The German R&D initiative BIOTEXFUTURE is driving the transformation of the textile value‑chain—from fossil‑derived synthetics towards bio‑based fibres and materials.

Why it’s exciting:

🌍 Their work shows how inclusive fashion can be aligned with sustainability: bio‑based materials offer new design possibilities and support more accessible, mindful production.

🔧 From a design training/consulting view, this offers rich territory: materials that are not only ethical but also part of bigger innovation narratives—giving clients a strategic edge.

💡 For inclusive or adaptive fashion: combining material innovation with accessible design can open fresh pathways—rethinking how we deliver comfort, function, and style regardless of ability.
